Getting Started
Element Movies is the booking and voting app for Fullerton Cove Community Cinema. Open it at elementmovies.com.au — it works in any mobile or desktop browser, no app download required.
Creating your account
Tap the Register tab on the sign-in screen. Fill in your full name, choose a username, set a password (minimum 4 characters), and enter the Invite Code you were given. Once registered you can sign in immediately.
Signing in
Use the Sign In tab. Enter your username and password. The app remembers you on the same device — you only need to sign in again if you sign out or use a new browser.
Home Dashboard
After signing in, the Home tab is your at-a-glance view. The header shows ELEMENT MOVIES at the top-left and a Sign out button at the top-right. The bottom navigation bar has three tabs: 🏠 Home, 🎟️ Screenings, and 🎬 Library.
Welcome card
The collapsible card at the top introduces the cinema concept. Tap Hide to collapse it and keep it out of the way — it remembers your preference.
Next Screening card
Shows the next scheduled screening: movie title, date, time, and seats remaining. Depending on your booking status the card shows one of the following:
Book a Seat — you haven't booked yet and seats are available. Tapping goes to the Screenings page to complete the booking.
Join Waitlist — the screening is fully booked. Tapping adds you to the waitlist.
✓ Booked X seat(s) — you have a confirmed booking. No action needed.
⏳ 1st in queue (or 2nd, 3rd, etc.) — you're on the waitlist; your position number is shown so you know how close you are to getting a seat.
Tapping the card itself (outside the button) also navigates to the Screenings page.
My Bookings card
This card only appears when you have at least one upcoming booking or waitlist entry. It shows a summary of each — movie name, date/time, and status pill. Tapping anywhere on the card opens the My Bookings slide-out panel (see Section 6).
New Movies to Rate
This section only appears when movies have been added to the library since your last visit that you haven't scored yet. It shows each new movie with its title, community score (if any votes exist), and a per-movie Skip button.
Use Rate them → to open a full-screen Quick Rating Session (see Section 7). Use Skip All to dismiss the entire block without rating. Both options clear it until the next new additions.
Library — Browse & Vote
The 🎬 Library tab lists every movie the community has nominated for screening. Each row shows the movie's poster, title, lead actor, community score, and IMDb rating. Tap any row to open the Movie Detail page.

Searching and sorting
Type in the search bar to filter the list by title in real time. Use the sort buttons to reorder by Community Score (default), IMDB Rating, or A–Z title order.
Genre filter
A row of genre chips appears above the movie list. Tap any genre to filter the list to that category. The Unscored chip (shown with a dashed border) filters to movies you haven't rated yet — useful for quickly finding films that still need your input. When this filter is active, a Rate all → button appears at the top of the list; tap it to launch a rating session covering all unscored movies in one go.
Suggesting a movie
Tap the + Suggest button to expand the suggestion form. Start typing a title — a live search shows matching films so you can confirm the correct spelling and edition before submitting. Select the right match and tap Add. The movie appears in the library immediately and is flagged as new for all members on their next visit.
Movie Detail Page
Tap any movie row in the Library (or a new-movie row on the Home dashboard) to open its detail page. Tap ← Back to return to where you came from.
Ratings and synopsis
The hero section shows the movie poster, title, lead actor, and content rating (e.g. MA15+). Below that are rating badges — IMDb and RT (Rotten Tomatoes), when available. Tapping either badge opens the movie's page in a new browser tab so you can read more without losing your place in the app. A Free to screen / Rental / Buy pill indicates the current streaming cost based on the club's subscriptions. Genre tags for the movie are shown beneath.
A short synopsis is displayed below the hero. If it's long, a More ▾ button reveals the full text.
The Community Score block shows the average rating across all member votes (out of 10), a vote count, and a progress bar.
Casting your vote
The Your Rating block at the bottom shows ten buttons numbered 1–10. Tap any number to cast your vote — it's recorded instantly and the community score updates. If you've already voted, your current score is highlighted; tap a different number to change it.
Screenings — Book Your Seat
The 🎟️ Screenings tab lists all upcoming scheduled screenings in date order. Each card shows the movie, date, time, and how many seats remain.
Booking seats
Tap Book Seats on any card with availability. A seat picker expands inline below the card — use the − and + buttons to choose how many seats you need, then tap Confirm. Your booking is saved immediately and the card updates to show your confirmed status.
Joining the waitlist
When a screening shows Full (no seats remain), a Join Waitlist button appears instead. Tap it to add yourself. Your waitlist position is shown on the card (e.g. ⏳ #2 on waitlist). If a seat becomes available, the next person on the list is promoted automatically.
Changing or cancelling
If you're booked, the card shows a Change seats button (re-opens the seat picker so you can adjust your count) and a Cancel button (removes your booking). Cancelling from the Home dashboard's My Bookings panel works the same way.
My Bookings
The My Bookings panel is a slide-out that gives you a complete view of your upcoming and past bookings. It's accessed from the My Bookings card on the Home dashboard — tap anywhere on that card to open it.
Opening the panel
The panel slides in from the right. It shows two sections: Upcoming (confirmed bookings and waitlist entries for future screenings) and Past Screenings (screenings you attended). Tap anywhere outside the panel, or the ✕ button, to close it.
For each upcoming booking you can Change seats (adjusts your seat count on the Screenings page) or Cancel (removes the booking). For waitlist entries, you can Leave waitlist.
Past screenings
Screenings you were booked for appear in the Past Screenings section after the date passes. These are read-only — a record of your attendance history.
Quick Rating Session
A Quick Rating Session is a focused, full-screen flow for scoring multiple movies back to back without navigating to each detail page individually. It's triggered in two ways: from the Rate them → button on the Home dashboard's New Movies section, or from the Rate all → button that appears in the Library when filtering by Unscored.
Rating new movies
The session shows one movie at a time, with its poster, title, lead actor, and IMDb rating. A progress bar at the top tracks how many movies remain. Tap a number from 1 to 10 to rate the movie — the session immediately advances to the next one. Your rating is saved the moment you tap.
Skipping and finishing
Tap Skip to pass on the current movie without rating it and move to the next. Tap Done for now to exit the session at any point — unrated movies remain in the New Movies section (or in the Not Yet Rated filter) so you can return to them later.
Once you've rated or skipped every movie in the session, it closes automatically and returns you to where you started.
